Product Owner Proficiency

Recognizes practitioners who consistently apply Product Owner practices across real products and teams with independence. The accredited individual drives product strategy, manages stakeholder complexity, and delivers measurable product value.


Requirements

1-hour accreditation interview. The candidate must: - Provide evidence of at least 2 years of experience as a Product Owner (or 1 year if continuously mentored by an ACA Accredited Coach). Evidence must include contracts, references, or written recommendations. - Answer 2 questions that probe judgment in complex Product Owner situations (e.g., conflicting stakeholder priorities, unclear value, team resistance). - Provide evidence of having owned and sustained 2 real Product Goals: what they were, how they were communicated, and whether they were achieved. - Provide evidence of having defined and executed product strategy for 2 real products, including how decisions were made. - Provide evidence of 1 facilitated session focused on empathizing with customers or users (user interviews, usability testing, discovery workshop) and its outcomes. - Present 1 case study of a product hypothesis validated or invalidated through experimentation. - Present 1 case study of managing a Product Backlog under real pressure: competing priorities, stakeholder demands, or technical complexity. - Share at least 3 self-improvement goals grounded in patterns from their practice.
