
Facilitator Proficiency
Recognizes practitioners who consistently design and deliver high-quality facilitation across diverse groups and organizational contexts. The accredited individual manages complex group dynamics, enables co-creation, and reliably achieves meaningful outcomes.
Requirements
1-hour accreditation interview. The candidate must:
- Provide evidence of at least 2 years of professional facilitation experience (or 1 year if continuously mentored by an ACA Accredited Coach), across different group sizes, purposes, and organizational contexts.
- Answer 2 questions requiring judgment in complex facilitation situations: polarized groups, sessions where the process breaks down, or facilitation of high-stakes decisions.
- Provide evidence of having designed and facilitated at least 5 sessions of varying complexity, with documented designs and outcomes.
- Present 1 case study of facilitating a complex decision-making, conflict resolution, or strategic alignment session, describing the design choices made, how group dynamics were managed, and the outcome achieved.
- Provide evidence of having adapted the facilitation approach in real time in response to unexpected group behavior or changing conditions, with at least 1 documented example.
- Provide evidence of having used at least 3 different facilitation techniques or methods across sessions (e.g., World Café, Open Space, Liberating Structures, Retrospective formats, Visual facilitation, Dot voting, etc.).
- Share at least 3 self-improvement goals grounded in patterns observed in their facilitation practice.
