
Coaching Skills
Recognizes practitioners who have demonstrated foundational professional coaching capabilities. The accredited individual can conduct structured coaching conversations that follow a coaching arc, using core skills of listening, inquiry, and action anchoring in simple supervised contexts.
Requirements
45-minute accreditation interview. The candidate must:
- Provide written evidence of at least 6 months of experience conducting professional coaching conversations, in an organizational or professional coaching context.
- Answer 2 questions on coaching fundamentals: the difference between coaching, mentoring, and advising; the coaching arc structure; and core competencies of active listening and powerful questioning.
- Provide evidence of having conducted at least 3 coaching conversations using a recognized coaching arc or framework, with notes or session records that demonstrate the flow from rapport and goal-setting through exploration to action commitment.
- Present 1 concrete example of a coaching conversation where they used listening, inquiry, and articulation skills to help a coachee access their own thinking and commit to a self-chosen action.
- Provide evidence of maintaining a coaching mindset and professional boundaries in at least 1 situation where advising or directing would have been easier or expected.
- Share at least 2 specific self-improvement goals as a coach grounded in their current practice.
